About Electrical World
Electrical World was founded from humble beginnings by Managing Director John Coalter; an experienced electrician who began his career as a businessman at the age of 20, when he launched his first electrical contract company.
Starting with small domestic jobs, John earned his reputation as an industrious and fair worker, and the business flourished, winning contracts across the province on an industrial scale, including council buildings, colleges, and large commercial buildings.
John harbored an interest in computers and IT since the age of 13, and was an early adopter of the internet before most people in our rural community even knew of its existence.
It is with this interest in online activity that years later would spark the idea to form an e-commerce company in conjunction with his electrical contract company, and so in 2009 "Select Security & Electrical Supplies" was born, initially as an amazon outlet for excess or unused stock from John and his engineers while completing contracts.
What began as a few daily orders quickly grew, and in the following year a new dedicated warehouse and staff team were necessary to keep up with orders from customers all over Europe & beyond.
Demand kept growing for what was now named ElectricalWorld.com, and in 2015 we packed up and moved to our current warehouse in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland to facilitate the growth in over 50 new territories across the world.
We have since decided to rebrand to Electrical World to accommodate our growing reach across the globe, bringing people to our store with quality electrical components which we ourselves would, and often do, use.
In April 2018, to complete the realignment process of the brand, Select Security & Electrical Supplies Ltd's company name has been changed to Electrical World Limited.
