For almost 60 years Kenneth Jay Lane has been one of the world’s foremost fashion jewelers. He has been an innovator, creating “Fabulous Fakes” that continue to cause real jewels to be left home in the safe!
“Elegance, luxury, and good taste never go out of style”, said Kenneth, and he would have known. Right from the start, fashion icons such as Jackie Onassis Kennedy, Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, and The Duchess of Windsor (just to name a few) chose to wear “Kennys”. His legacy has continued with his name and designs being more internationally recognized than ever before. Today you can see the likes of Rhianna, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Miley Cyrus, and Katie Perry dazzling in Kenneth’s designs.
Michigan – born Lane graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1954 and moved to New York for a stint at the Vogue art department. This whet his appetite for fashion and made him realize that he wanted to design and create. Shoes were his starting point – he worked on collections for Delman and Christian Dior. It was whilst working at the latter that he began embellishing shoes with rhinestones and played around with ideas for jewelry.
As impressive as it is that royals, celebrities, and socialites choose Kenneth Lane jewelry, it was never his primary focus. His designs are still created with the everyday woman in mind.
