Born in Southern coasts of Sri Lanka Kasuni Rathnasuriya was blessed to embrace the heritage of Portuguese and Dutch culture together with fine literature. The island life along the endless beaches has been the finest source of inspiration for her work. Island life is joyful, effortless and minimalistic. The DNA behind the heritage and style of old Ceylon (aka Sri Lanka). She was skilled and talented to cultivate the inspirations of a rich and a diverse culture to a contemporary platform.

Kasuni hails from a diverse background. Uprooted from been a biology student to graduating from Academy of Design , She went to become a chartered Marketer from Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) , UK before completing her masters degree (MBA) at prestigious Postgraduate Institute of Management at University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka.

Right after her graduation from design school she joined thriving apparel industry in Sri Lanka as a creative designer. In 2011 she launched her own brand KÛR with the intention of creating “one of a kind” line of clothing. From the inception she incorporated artisanal handmade lace to contemporary fashion. She made a product which speaks of “less impact to planet and more impact to people and community”- A rigid dichotomy for most apparel brands.

Recognizing her talents and efforts British Council awarded her the prestigious Young Fashion Entrepreneur in 2011. In 2010 she made into the semi finals of Ethical Fashion Awards at the Sri Lanka Design Festival. She marked her debut in USA at Portland Fashion week in 2014 followed by the Raw Artist Manhattan. KÛR SS16 collection was showcased at Sunshine Coast Fashion festival Australia in September 2015. Further she showcased at IMG New York Fashion Week (NYFW) in 2017 and 2018. And she continues to create 2 main collections per year.
